Christ Church History

Home Windows 125th Anniversary

Episcopal Services were held at Fort McIntosh on an occasional basis, but Christ Church was organized and began public worship in 1881, shortly after the railroad arrived in Laredo. Bishop Elliot, (left), came down from San Antonio, and a number of local citizens, met and worshipped in the upstairs rooms of the local jail, which was on the site where La Posada Hotel sits today.

Occasionally we get requests from folks doing ancestral searches for information about the Cemetery.  The Laredo city cemetery has an Episcopal Church Section. See Cemetery Map 2 at: http://www.cityoflaredo.com/Cemetery/main.htm

A little more info is available at: http://www.cityoflaredo.com/Cemetery/religious.htm

and:http://www.cityoflaredo.com/Cemetery/CityCem.htm

We will search parish records when we have time if you will call the church at 956-723-5714. Please give us a few days notice when possible.
