Healing

God still heals people today! On Sunday mornings at Christ Church we have teams of people who will pray with you for any reason including asking God for healing for yourself or someone else.

Since antiquity, Christians have prayed for healing. Anointing (putting a small amount of blessed oil on someone) for healing is a very ancient sacramental sign of God's love for our bodies. We pray for healing for any kind of illness.

In ancient times this sacrament was called Unction, which means to place oil on a person with prayers for healing.

This does not mean that we ignore doctors and medicine. Quite the contrary. We believe that God is the giver of all good gifts including the healing professions, and the practice of medicine. We encourage people to seek medical treatment whenever necessary.  Caring for your body is a way of showing thanks to God for the gift you have been given.

Sometimes people are not healed physically but even those who are dying can experience the touch of God.

When people are near death we also want to anoint them with oil as a sign of an even deeper healing. For we believe that even death cannot separate us from the love of God shown in Jesus Christ.  See funerals.
